Summer Machaneh, HDUK
By Louis Cantor
Machaneh was the breath of fresh air we all sorely needed
this summer, a privilege we all deserved. Set away from the
familiar Welsh forests, machaneh took place at two idyllic
locations, the flowing meadows and sublime structures of
Milton Abbey and Sherfield School. Fortunately, the weather
was understanding of the requirement for activities to take
place mainly outdoors, allowing camp to run smoothly
under the cover of marquees or the shining sun.
There was a sense of belonging which prevailed most
wonderfully throughout machaneh, as both madrichimot
and chanichimot alike relished the unique feeling of being
part of Habonim Dror once again. Despite two cohorts of
leaders having never led, they rose excellently to the task of
providing an unforgettable summer to hundreds of children,
a feat they should be truly proud of. To be able to unite the
movement with such passion and energy, shaking off the
shackles of distancing and isolating, made it that much
more special.
