Machane but COVID Restrictions may not allow us
to do so.
While we're looking forward to Machane Shinui
and the fact that it's rapidly approaching,
unfortunately one large obstacle is in our way.
While over the past 18 months we've managed to
hold camps free of restrictions despite COVID-19
there's a risk that COVID could have implications
for this upcoming Machane. The recent delta
outbreak in New Zealand has been far more
contagious and damaging compared to other
strains of the COVID virus. Delta has seen us take
steps to ensure we can still hopefully run some
form of Machane but with limited numbers. We're
all hopeful that we are out of lockdown soon so
Machane Shinui can proceed as planned similar to
our regular Machanot.
The COVID situation has meant we’ve had to
adopt new protocols to minimise any risks
associated with camp and COVID. We’re
introducing more structures to ensure everyone is
as healthy and safe as possible. We also have to
adhere to Government restrictions which may limit
the number of Chanichim at camp. Thankfully,
parents and the wider Jewish community have
been really understanding of how hard it is to run
a camp in these circumstances and are very
supportive and appreciative of our work.
