Machaneh Keshet -
A roaring success!
Shalom!
My name is Mya Danin and I am a part of Habonim Dror
Aotearoa New Zealand (HDANZ) . I recently ran our
yearly summer camp Machane Keshet 2021. This year our
camp was located in Whangaruru on a farm in the middle
of nowhere - about an hours drive from any sort of
civilisation, which is exactly how we like it!
The madrichimot started camp on the 27th of December
as we started to set up the campsite, putting up tents
everyday and digging trenches, on the 3rd of January all
the kids came (about 100) and we started our 10 day
camp filled with fun, educational peulot, an overnight hike,
a beautiful shabbat service and much much more. The kids
left on the 13th and mads spent the following 4 days
packing up the campsite and sikkuming camp.
This year was a bit different to usual as we didn’t get our
Australian friends to come help out because of COVID, so
the mads had to work
extra hard to make sure
we could still run camp
smoothly. All HDANZ
Madrichimot did an
amazing job of putting in
the extra effort needed -
which meant that
everyone went home
super stoked and excited for future camps.
