Tommy Berman, we salute you with two of
your poems published in RAMBLES, 19 November 2010.

                                                   Meeting Exit

                                                     Once I take my leave
we were together mouthing the usual words

carefree days in a far country mumbling condolences

meadows, sun and clouds gravely embracing
                                                                                        I shake hands

the years have passed and wipe a tear
now chanced together again “Sad, it’s sad,” I pronounce

in this remote airport cafeteria “but life, you know,

                                                                                          goes on.”

                                             her face is older now

                                                  much older, On leaving

and lined with living the assemblage

her eyes the same I cast no shadow

                                                  but focused

                                               on our coffee cups Suddenly
                                                                                           I realize

Planes to catch whom they are mourning

                                             our ways now distant
                                                 and far apart
