EDITORIAL

it is with great pride and excitement that we present to you all, our Annual Iton, Kol Bogrei
                    Habonim, vol. V, no. 5, 2021.
I This year has seen the retirement of our Editor, Harold Hirsch, who directed the publication
of the Iton for the past 10 years. Thanks, and kudos are in place for his professional editing of the
Iton during these years. I will personally miss Harold’s wisdom and wide knowledge as well as
               our excellent team work together.
So, it seems that I have slipped into the position of Editor by default. But I am not alone in this
task. Firstly Barry Coleman, who as you know is an expert at graphic design - evidence of which
you see regularly in his Newsletters – has joined me. Secondly, my devoted Editorial Team –
Jonny Anson, David Chester, Debbie Gelbard, Peter Lawton, Donya Meijer, Baruch Pinnick
and Paul Shotts – have continued to invest their time and talents in editing/proofreading the
articles. Furthermore, when there is a special task to be done, we have multi-talented chaverim
amongst us. Many thanks to Debbie Efron for having translated a 7-page document from Ivrit to
               English.
As you know, the Iton can be published only when YOU write it. This time we have received
many articles spotlighting various kinim from the North as well as Dublin and Cardiff. We have
received several articles that retrace the steps of both Garin Vav and Garin Hey that are celebrating
anniversaries this year. We have other delights too – poems, the Edinburgh connection to Karkur
and letters to answer Alan Rosenthal’s comments in the last Iton.
Finally, this year, we lost Denis Shifrin z”l, who was for many years on the Editorial Board of
this Iton and his wonderful cartoons decorated its pages. To honour him, we have interspersed his
cartoons and photos of his kinetic woodwork models between the articles.
So, all that remains is to wish you all, enjoyable reading and definite plans to send us more articles
               for the next Iton.

Chag Sameach and a Healthy New Year to All,

               Coral
