Jewish Youth
We are youth—strong, virile, unafraid.
We are millions, stretched across the continents,
confident in our idealism, our energy, our youth.
Shoulder to shoulder we stand, packed tight, a
solid ring around the globe. Our heads are held
high, our steps are firm, our eyes sparkle with the
will to create and the will to live. Shoulder to
shoulder we stand, daring the world to crush us if
it can.
We are millions; fighting in Europe, dying in China,
building in Palestine, studying in colleges, working
in factories, in mines, in shops. Millions; sleeping
and waking, loving and starving; millions; filled
with the promise of youth, the will to DO.
We are youth. We are strong. We are energetic. We
have idealism. Our minds and our hands are aching
to create a world of opportunity, of justice, of
satisfaction.
Yes, we are youth. But we are also Jewish youth,
backed up by a history, a creed, a culture, a will of
centuries; weighed down by prejudice, by
oppression and persecution.
We are Jewish youth in France, in England, in,
America to-day, endowed with the spirit and ideals
of youth, filled with the desire and energy of our
years. Our hands, too, are aching to create and
build; our hearts too, are demanding to live and to
develop. We, too, sleep and eat, love and starve;
we, too, dared the world to crush us if it could.
