We are Jewish youth.
And a part of the
world has accepted
our dare. A part of
the world has taken
a machine-gun in
one hand,
antisemitism in the
other; a part of the
world is stepping on us with calloused feet, is
squeezing the red life from our veins; a part of the
world is laughing its hoarse croak and gloating
over the fact, that it thinks it can crush us…
Ha! … Crush us! They accepted our dare, did they?
But … crush us?
We are Jewish youth, backed by a creed, by a
culture, by a will. Their nailed boots may be cruel,
but we are youth and we are Jews and we believe
in a life that is just and tolerant. So we laugh at
their attempts to crush us.
We, Jewish youth, shall live, shall work with our
hands, shall build strong. We shall create a
homeland, a centre of life where Jewish youth can
again stand shoulder to shoulder with millions of
youth, where Jewish youth can again be part of the
ring that girdles the globe.
We are Jewish youth. We shall plant green trees of
new life on the bare hills of an old culture.
