I think that moratorium
enabled me to
really think about
what I feel and
believe. Not my
madrichimot or
Zionism according to
the movement
constitution, but also
not my professors, or
articles that I saw online, or, increasingly, platforms
like Instagram.
Ask yourself much less if you’re Zionist or not. Ask
yourself much more: are you interested in taking
responsibility for the Jewish people? How? Do you see
the diaspora as a viable future for the Jewish people?
Are you Jewish-national-liberation-curious? None of
these questions are loaded; I genuinely think it’s a
healthy exercise to ask honestly how you’re feeling
about questions of Jewish peoplehood.
I don’t think this helped. Oh well.
