CORE VALUES for INTENTIONAL
               COMMUNITY (2)

In our last issue (#30 – Aug. 1), Michael Livni wrote about
the centrality of FAITH as a Core Value in Intentional.
               Community.

Here he presents excerpts from Paul Tillich’s writing on the
               subject.

Paul Tillich (1880 -1965) was a German Protestant theologian
who fled to the United States upon the advent of Hitler.
What follows are excerpts from his book, THE DYNAMICS
OF FAITH, Harper Torch Books, 1958, pp. 1-4. (adapted)

               FAITH AS ULTIMATE CONCERN.

Faith is the state of being
               ultimately concerned: the
               dynamics of faith are the
               dynamics of man’s
               ultimate concern. Man,
               like every living being, is
               concerned about many
               things, above all about
               those which condition his
               very existence, such as
               food and shelter. But man,
               in contrast to other living
               beings, has spiritual
               concerns – cognitive,
aesthetic, social, political. Paul Tillich (1886-1965)
               Some of them are urgent,
