EDITORIAL
Every year is historic, but this year the movement is
celebrating a couple of pretty significant milestones:
th
2020 sees Habonim Dror Australia celebrate it’s 80
birthday, whilst the South African movement is marking
90 years since its founding. These anniversaries are
perfect opportunities for reflection, to look back on our
significant achievements as a movement.
Habonim Dror Southern Africa have been marking the
occasion with a series of online lectures called
Kaleidoscope, culminating in a trip to Israel, the
Habonim Ultimate Gathering (HUG), which unfortunately
has had to be postponed because of COVID-19.
In Australia, the movement has had events with alumni
over zoom both in Perth and Sydney, and Melbourne is
currently running a big fundraiser event, and a big event
at their ken with as many people as they can within the
COVID-19 restrictions. The movement there is also
archiving photos and videos from alumni and are
releasing them on social media.
Let’s wish these movements a hearty mazel tov for
reaching such impressive milestones, and wish them
many more years of hagshama.
